Ontario QSO Party 2007

The PCC Parking Lot Demonstration

Well this year, a last minute decision activated the Nipissing District from the parking lot of the Provincial Communications Centre - North Bay. I strung up a G5RV antenna between the rooftop and a light standard, parked my small tent trailer at the end of the parking lot, and was on the air in about an hour - thanks to the block heater electrical outlets.

While propagation was not excellent, I did make enough contacts to demonstrate that the use of HF is a viable option in case permission is granted to erect a tower and install an amateur radio station.
